The Doomsday Ball – September 22, 2018 – Downtown LA

The Doomsday Ball was last Saturday September 22 in Downtown LA. The event was held in the basement of the Belasco Theatre in a burnout post-apocalyptic looking space. There was also a staircase to a rooftop patio. The theme was post-apocalyptic and the costumes were amazing. It seemed like a lot of hard core wastelanders there. There was several DJs and a cool post-apocalyptic punk band. Put on by Batcave LA in a brand new location for them. It was an awesome night!

LABYRINTH MASQUERADE, THE BILTMORE HOTEL, DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES 2018!

The Labyrinth of Jareth Masquerade Ball took place last Friday and Saturday nights at the Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. If you are a fan of costuming this is one of the great masquerade events in the US. The costumes were amazing this year! Every year the bar is raised a little higher. However if you opt for just wearing formal wear a good time can be had also.. there is so much to look at. Beautifully decorated rooms and non-stop entertainment in the main ballroom. I highly recommend this event!

We just returned from San Diego Comic Con 2018.

It was an amazing show.. as always!!

The Shrine booth was open for business. We displayed many of our new Summer and Fall items for purchase.

We got to see the cast of Supernatural signing autographs in the Warner Bros. booth across from us.

I also saw a bit of the Marvel Costume contest which had some epic costumes.

We had loads of fun.. and the weather was beautiful.

Long Beach Pirate Invasion 2018! – Long Beach CA.

The whole crew made it to the Long Beach Pirate Festival June 30-July 1st.

The festival took place on an island in Long Beach Harbor. A great encampment!

It was an amazing good time.. There was ale aplenty and many dedicated Southern Cal pirates.

Great music, vendors and food. It was a great opportunity to wear some of my favorite Shrine.:)

Shrine Store

Flashback to the Shrine store on Melrose 1994 – 2014.

Hello Shrine customers and friends,
We’ve been getting a lot of questions from people wanting to visit our store on Melrose so I just thought I would give you all an update.
We first opened our store on Melrose Ave. in Hollywood in 1994. The store operated for twenty years until we closed it in December 2014.

It was amazing having a store on Melrose and meeting so many great customers and celebrities over the years.
Here is a short list of some cool folks that dropped into our store during that time:
Alice Cooper, James Brown, Prince, Beyonce, Paula Abdul, Val Kilmer, Benicio Del Toro, Blondie, Kool and the Gang, Steven Tyler, Elijah Wood, Shaquille O’Neal,
Rick James, Drew Barrymore, Ice-T, Terri Nunn, Rob Zombie, Queen Latifah, Bootsy Collins, Flea, Dave Navarro, Wayne Static, etc. etc. etc…..

We closed the store in 2014 because we wanted to focus more on creating new designs and selling our line through other retail stores in the US, Canada,
and Europe as well as building our online business.

We still sell our line in Hollywood through the store Typhoon on Melrose and through RockTown on Hollywood Blvd.
Our warehouse is in downtown LA and we allow customers to make appointments to try on and buy our clothing there also.
Email us to make an appointment at [email protected]

Cheers!

Monsterpalooza!

Monsterpallooza! Pasadena California Convention Center April 13,14,15… 2018.

The Shrine booth made an appearance at Monsterpalooza 2018!
If you haven’t been this is a great show dedicated to horror and special EFX makeup.
Many of the vendors are very talented artists and craftspeople.
There is also a classic monster and horror museum with props and artwork from many classic horror movies.
We don’t set up the Shrine booth very often but it was a great chance to re-connect with many of our old customers from our store on Melrose.
…and to introduce our clothing and jewelry to new people in the LA area.

of course the Monster Shirt in the classic monster print was the hot seller! 😉
